Style meets cutting edge technology at the Corniche

Highlighting Avande’s role in delivering some of the most sort after dwellings in London and the South East, our team was the principle supplier of audio-visual and automation systems into this impressive award-winning Thames-side development. The Corniche show apartment won the Evening Standard, Homes & Property Best Luxury Home category in 2018 and was designed by internationally celebrated architectural practice, Foster + Partners. The form of the building was created to echo the famous river Thames which flows below the apartments.

Situated in one of the most culturally rich and historic areas of the capital with the Tate Modern and Globe Theatre just two of the highlights close by, this spectacular apartment development commands views over London taking in Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.

The impact inside the development needed to match the exciting experiences available on the property’s doorstep, so Avande was called on to deliver control, comfort and style in equal measure for the residents.

Impressive architecturally with its two-tower curved design, the Corniche offers a mix of communal areas which includes a pool, spa and vitality room as well as a Skyline club lounge and terrace. The building offers a mix of two- and three-bedroom apartments and two spectacular luxury penthouses.

With an established track record delivering developments on this scale, but high attention to detail and finish, Avande created a scheme which provides the intuitive control and luxury expected in a building like the Corniche.

Providing a one call solution for the entire project, the Avande team delivered the lighting control, automation and audio-visual experiences available in the apartments as well as all the wiring infrastructure to make the building’s systems work.

Caring for the Corniche

The Corniche comprises of two tower blocks, made up of 168 apartments. From the ground to the 14th floor, Avande was responsible for all the standard electrical wiring installation, some pre-wiring for audio-visual systems and controllable mood lighting adding comfort and drama to the living spaces.

Above the 14th floor, things start to get more complex. Floors 14-26 have home automation capabilities thanks to a Crestron home automation system which delivers easy control of lighting, HVAC, and door-entry systems. These apartments boast pre-programmed lighting scenes to welcome the family home or set scenes for entertaining or relaxing. The Crestron platform is incredibly intuitive to use, so once owners are settled in, they can start to create and tweak scenes of their own to suit their lifestyle and taste. The apartments also enjoy multi-room music courtesy of Sonance in-ceiling speakers, which deliver high-quality audio without compromising the aesthetics of the apartments. All of the systems in each apartment are controlled via attractive dedicated Crestron touch-screens mounted on the walls or via an iPad with an identical Crestron control interface.

Our team all the bespoke lighting control panels, button engravings, keypad layouts and scene setting as well as the Crestron touchscreen interface.

Perfect Penthouses

Further up the property are two spectacular duplex penthouse apartments, with two story high windows and roof gardens to make the most of the spectacular views. The lighting automation and other systems fitted here match those of the lower floors, but have had extra audio-visual experiences and entertainment equipment added to enrich the lives of their residents.

One of the penthouses enjoys music throughout the property courtesy of a Sonos multi-room music system supplying all the home owner’s favourite stored music and music services such as Spotify or Tidal to each zone of the apartment. This home also enjoys content including movies and box sets via an Apple TV system, all available on two high-quality Sony TVs, one 75in and a 55in. Viewers of the larger TV also enjoy an enhanced audio experience courtesy of a large Sonance soundbar mounted below the TV and a surround sound system to deliver an immersive experience when watching movies or sport. When enjoying the smaller TV, viewers also get enhanced sound via a Sonos Playbar mounted below the TV.

The second penthouse also enjoys the benefits of a Sonos multi-room music system, and this home also has an enhanced TV experience via a 75in Sony TV, Yamaha Blu-ray player and Sonance soundbar, all controlled via a Yamaha AVR.

Both penthouses also enjoy reliable Wi-Fi networks fitted by Avande. Our team was also responsible for the AV and control systems in the communal areas which includes the main reception, where the concierge needs to control all of the shared areas as well as the safety aspects of the building. This is all achieved with the Crestron system controlling and automating the lighting, heating and zoned audio throughout the communal areas.
